Belinda's Place

Newmarket, ON, Canada

The Federal and Provincial Governments proposed the construction of a multi-level emergency housing facility for individuals and families of York Region.
CHANCE® Helical Piles were installed to support the multi-level structure. Load testing on the helical piles yielded capacities of 600 kN in compression and 250 kN in tension with less than 25mm of total movement.
The site, located at the corner of a large Newmarket intersection, posed challenges which included:

• RESTRICTED ACCESS
• CONSTRUCTION IN A DEVELOPED AREA
Due to the unique phased-construction nature of the project, helical piles were the most feasible deep foundation solution. Essential to the success of the project were the following elements:
• COST-EFFECTIVE MULTIPLE MOBILIZATIONS
• TIGHT ACCESS EQUIPMENT
• NO VIBRATIONS OR SPOILS TO AFFECT SURROUNDING STRUCTURES

Depth: 5 metres
Total Number of Piles: 470 CHANCE® Helical Piles
